Abstract: Il monitoraggio delle popolazioni di uccelli acquatici rappresenta uno strumentoindispensabile per ottenere le informazioni necessarie allo sviluppo di valide politiche diconservazione delle popolazioni di uccelli e dei loro habitat.Gli obiettivi dei censimenti invernali degli uccelli acquatici, coordinati in Italia dall’IstitutoNazionale per la Protezione e Ricerca Ambientale (di seguito citato come “ISPRA”), sono:- stabilire annualmente la dimensione delle popolazioni presenti nel mese di gennaio;- identificare variazioni nella dimensione e nella distribuzione delle popolazioni;- determinare l’importanza a livello internazionale e nazionale dei vari siti;- contribuire significativamente agli sforzi locali, nazionali ed internazionali per laconservazione degli uccelli acquatici e dei loro habitat.I risultati di questi censimenti confluiscono anche nella banca dati di Wetlands International(un'organizzazione mondiale senza fini di lucro dedicata esclusivamente alla conservazionedelle zone umide ed alla loro gestione sostenibile), permettendo così analisi su scalegeografiche più ampie, tali da comprendere l’intero areale di svernamento delle variepopolazioni e consentire l’individuazione di graduatorie d’importanza assoluta dei siti,dell’andamento numerico globale delle popolazioni e del loro stato di conservazione.
Purpose: La realizzazione ditale banca dati si configura come un importante strumento per l’organizzazione deicensimenti e per l’elaborazione dei dati raccolti, nonché in prospettiva, per l’adozione diulteriore iniziative di studio e gestionali.
